Loooooong Time

Oh hey! It's been a reeeeaaaaallllyyyy long time since this blog has had any attention. With school, work, family, blah, blah, blah getting in the way and this blog hasn't been my first priority. But, I'm back and we shall continue. :)

Alright. How have you all been? Does anyone need any advice/help from fellow birth moms? I can post it and comment.

For those (birth moms) who are interested:

We need your help with our high school presentations on adoption. If you would be willing to share some of your experiences about placing a baby for adoption please join us for one of our training meetings. Our first will be held during the regularly scheduled chat room (this is in the group room, after group) on Thursday, September 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the agency. We’ll hold another meeting on Sunday, September 26 in Lehi. We’ll be meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Lehi Gateway Stake Center at 2150 N Pointe Meadow Dr.

Please Please PLEASE talk to your case worker before agreeing to do a presentation. When you get the go-ahead, come to the meeting! We will have our own training during group sometime soon. Questions?

Remember-- Group is at 6:30 @ the agency every Thursday. :) We would love to have you there!

We had a comment on an earlier post that I would love to discuss. I think it is a very important thing. Communication is very important in an open adoption, long distance or close. My adoption is close, but I just adjusted it to act more like a long distance--less visits, more updates. I thought it would be really awkward talking to my couple about this (what if they get offended, what if they forget about me, etc.) and my fears were immediately crushed when they we only concerned if they were doing enough for me. My advice is to just call them and have a frank discussion about what you want and need.

That's my advice, but what do you think? This is what she said::

I wish I better knew how to make a long distance open adoption work. I feel awkward calling up cuz I haven't seen them in 6 months. Most of the girls I know have adoptions where the couple lives close. How does long distance work?

First Post on New Blog!.

Hey! I hope you all find your way here.... I know it's kind of confusing, so I'm hoping to make the transition smooth. Just so you know, this is where all new post are coming to. There will be no new posts on the old URL.

Ok, we are changing up group. This Thursday will be Dream Boards. We will be making a poster that will describe our dreams in pictures and one word phrases. They are really fun to make and help you visualize your dreams. I will take pictures and post them. :)

That means next week we will be talking about how to keep involved with FSA. I have been really involved with FSA and have found it has helped me alot. It keeps me busy and I feel like I am making a difference.

Let me know if you have any questions--the email hasn't changed!! afchaptersmp.blogspot.com
